aggressive criminal defenses

I grew up on the south side of Indianapolis, Ind., graduating from Southport High School. I was accepted in the Honors Division at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind., and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 1990. In 1997, I received my law degree from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis, graduating magna cum laude after finishing in the top ten percent of my class.

While obtaining my law degree, I was an associate editor on the Indiana Law Review, and authored The Response to Payne v. Tennessee: Giving the Victim’s Family a Voice in the Capital Sentencing Process, 30 Indiana Law Review 795 (1997), and was one of only six students selected to participate in the National Appellate Advocacy Competition of the American Bar Association, with my team advancing to the National Finals.

I began my legal career as a deputy prosecutor in Hendricks County, and then worked as an associate with the firm of Hostetter & O’Hara. I have been a solo practitioner since 2010.

As a deputy prosecutor and defense attorney, I have personally handled all types of criminal cases, from simple misdemeanors, to the most serious crimes. In addition to numerous cases handled at the trial court level, I have also successfully handled several appeals, including successful oral argument against the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles before the Indiana Court of Appeals.
